About Us
Erik Lewis was born in Western Kansas, raised in Brussels, Belgium then Granite City, Illinois – just across the Mississippi River from St. Louis, Missouri. He has been involved in landscape construction for over 17 years and developed his skills as a stone mason when he moved to Durango in 2000. With 15 years of experience and a focus in traditional stone masonry, he has worked on projects in Durango, Denver and Dolores, CO, Santa Fe, Aztec and Albuquerque, NM, and Portola Valley, CA (http://www.tahmahlah.com/). He is a member of the Stone Foundation and has attended symposiums and worksops in Barre, VT, Hood River, OR, Ventura, CA and Mallorca, Spain. His dedication to structural stone masonry construction and traditional techniques makes him a true artisan and craftsman. After years of attention to the built environment within the natural landscape combined with practical experience, Erik has developed a balanced sense of design in his work. With a commitment to the integrity and permanence of the craft, Erik started Canyon Landscape and Masonry in 2005.
